Al- Tal Mourns the President of the Algerian Constitutional Council

The President of the Union of Courts and the Arab Constitutional Councils, President of the Constitutional Court of Jordan Judge Hisham Al-Tal, mourned the head of the Constitutional Council of Algeria, Mourad Medelci, who moved to the mercy of God on Monday 28/1/2019 after an incurable illness. Al-Tal remembered the deceased's virtues and the great services he provided at the various sites he occupied, expressing sincere condolences to the brotherly Republic of Algeria and his family. Medelci, 76, has held senior government positions in Algeria for the past four decades. With his departure coming less than three months after the Algerian presidential elections scheduled for April 18.

Al-Medelci is one of the most prominent political figures in Algeria. He is the head of the constitutional council, who accepts or rejects the nomination files for the elections. He was one of the most prominent supervisors of the Algerian constitution amendment 2016.

Medelci has held many government positions, including Minister of finance between the years 2005 and 2007 and 2001 and 2002 and an advisor to the Presidency from 2002 to 2005, As a Minister of Commerce twice between 1999 and 2001 and 1988 and 1989. Medelci was previously Secretary-General of the same ministry between 1980 and 1988 before he was appointed as a Minister of Treasury until 1992.
